Learn the right way from the start
Our team grew up in a generation shaped by stressful tuition and constant pressure. Looking back, we wish we had focused earlier on the habits that truly matter. Your child is just getting started. Having been through the system ourselves, we know what works. So we help students build the lifelong habits.

Stage 01
Referral
and Screening
Entry begins through referral from within our approved mentor pool. Before training, we screen for presence, clarity, and the ability to hold a focused conversation.
Stage 02
Training Process
Training is where the craft is shaped. This is where we build Socratic questioning, role play discipline, and the ability to guide without taking control.
Stage 03
Rice Washing
After training, approval is not assumed. Rice washing is the apprenticeship phase where weekly work is tied to real sessions and standards are proven in context.
Stage 04
Continuous Assessment
Approval is maintained through ongoing review and continued upskilling. Mentors remain in the pool by keeping the standard, month after month.
The People Behind The House
The people who shape the philosophy, systems, and community that bring the mentorship to life.
Emil Lim
CEO, Founder
Years of mentoring students and speaking with educators shaped the philosophy behind First Principles Education, and he continues refining the framework that guides every mentorship.
Gary Teo
COO, Co-Founder
Gary builds the systems behind the work. From mentor selection to the tools that support every session, many of the structures that power the programme were designed by him.
Marsya Ruzana (Aw)
Head of Study Skills
Marsya leads the development of study skills and mentor training. Her work ensures that every strategy taught to students is grounded in learning science and practical classroom application.
Lianna Lau
Community Manager
Lianna brings life to the community around the programme. Through activities, conversations, and events, she ensures that families and mentors remain connected beyond the weekly sessions.
